English at Upper Intermediate Level

These two blocks of courses are intended to lift your language skills to a level where you are able to communicate with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that boosts confidence and allows stress free interaction with advanced speakers of English. At the end of both blocks, you will be able to express, explain and debate your viewpoint on topical issues and produce detailed, clear text on a wide range of subjects. These courses provide you with the knowledge and ability to proceed to further advanced study.

To achieve these objectives, the lessons will include a diverse and stimulating range of activities and tasks covering the relevant grammar, vocabulary, listening techniques, speaking and writing skills. In order to achieve progress in this course you will need to complete approximately two hours of home study per week. This will reinforce and build on the work covered in class.

Block I

The first block looks at topics that include crime and punishment, climate change, survival, national stereotypes, science, all with relevant grammar and vocabulary.

Block II

On this course you study topics such as the media, music festivals, annoying habits, sleep, creative thinking, towns and cities, and business and advertising. Once again, grammar and new vocabulary will form an integral part of all sessions.
