This Dutch course reinforces and expands upon basic grammar, develops vocabulary, and focuses on improving fluency in speaking to bring you to a pre-intermediate level (A2). The course introduces new vocabulary and grammar structures in a communicative way. The lessons support active speaking.

Course Content and Learning Goals - Stepping Stone I Dutch Course
Topics covered in your course include:
- Visiting friends and attending a birthday
- Using public transport
- Going to the cinema, doctor, and police station
- Phoning a helpdesk
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Do everything described at the A1 level but at a faster pace
- Speak about your routine, habits and hobbies
- Ask/give directions
- Speaking about past and future events
- Tell a story and also describe the situation / context
- Use the modal verbs (+ infinitive) in the simple past
- Read and talk about a simplified book (graded reader)
- Write a simple e-mail or complaint

Price
€420 (excluding the course book).
A €40 discount is available for students and au pairs, subject to presentation of a valid student card number or host family information.

- All course materials, except the course book, are included in the course price.
Please note: A new edition of Nederlands in Gang will be released soon. For our September 2026 term, students should purchase the current edition listed above. From our January 2027 term onwards, the new edition will be required ISBN 9789024473250 released on the 29th of June.
Missed a Lesson?
If you're unable to attend a class due to illness or other circumstances, you can catch up through self-study or book a catch-up lesson at a reduced price.
Please be aware that in the face-to-face courses, there is no option of joining remotely.
Self Assessment
This course may be the right level for you if you can do most of the following:
- Use simple words and short phrases to talk about yourself and familiar topics.
- Make short sentences and ask simple questions for everyday situations.
- Introduce yourself and talk about familiar topics using basic everyday language.
- Have a basic understanding of the present, perfect, and future tenses.
Choosing beween the standard and semi-intensive formats;
Time commitment:
- Our once-a-week courses requires a total of approximately 5 hours per week commitment to lessons and preparation.
- Semi-intensive courses are best suited for students who can dedicate at least 10 hours per week to lessons and preparation. (Those with less time available may find our standard-paced, once-a-week courses a better fit, requiring approximately half the weekly commitment.)
- We have options for people who want to have lessons once a week, twice a week, in the morning or in the evening and even weekend courses.
- We offer courses both face-to-face and remote via Zoom.
